The Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve will be a multi-purpose karting circuit suitable for a very wide range of uses, from the traditional races in national and international championships to amateur races, or simply for hiring go-karts for pure fun. There will be 112 different versions of the circuit depending on the type of use, and it will be one of the biggest karting circuits in Europe.
The complex will also have some unique features, in particular a specific area for different handling tests, – zones that can be wetted artificially – the main one being the 750 m straight (longitudinal Wet Traction Pad), a lateral Grip Pad 75m in diameter and the lateral Hydroplaning Pad with a radius of 210m, which can all operate completely independently of the Karting Circuit itself.
One of the further advantages of the Karting Circuit is having a version with the configuration of a handling track and a Wet Handling Test Course with a length of 1,300 meters, which can also be wetted. The specific aim of these facilities is to carry out tyre development tests by tyre manufacturers.
The Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve will also have an area of restaurants and bars, stands, pits, and ample private parking. Furthermore, and representing a major innovation, the Karting Track will be the first Race Academy in Portugal, and will certainly be the breeding ground for the next generation of competitors.
